- Biography:
A Blayney Bears junior from regional New South Wales, Liam Henry joined the Penrith Panthers system in 2019, working his way through the club's Jersey Flegg and NSW Cup grades before earning his NRL debut against the North Queensland Cowboys in Round 25 of the 2022 season.
Henry's rise from fringe first-grader to genuine premiership contributor was rapid. He played 24 games in the Panthers' 2024 premiership-winning campaign, including their World Club Challenge final appearance against Wigan Warriors, before going on to be part of Penrith's Grand Final victory over Melbourne later that year — a remarkable achievement for a player still building his NRL career.
His 2024 season was a genuine breakout, becoming renowned for his relentless work rate in the middle of the field, including a career-high 78 tackles in a single game — a mark that placed him second on the NRL's all-time single-game tackling leaderboard. That form was recognised by his own club, with Henry named Penrith's Rookie of the Year in 2023 and Club Person of the Year in 2024.
Henry played a further 23 games for the Panthers in the 2025 season, and has continued that form in 2026. He was also rewarded with representative honours, selected for the Prime Minister's XIII in 2025.
Head Coach Mal Meninga said Henry's work ethic and proven top-grade experience made him an ideal addition to the club's forward pack.
"Liam has built his reputation on hard work and consistency, and those are exactly the values we want at the heart of this club," Meninga said.
